Prompt: Sam killing Lilith

Artist’s notes:

My fourth card, this time with fancy light-thingies ;) …

With this card I went through a lot of different styles, photographs, realistic digital painting, oil painting, I even gave impressionism a shot, but what got me to this was an old Japanese horror movie I caught on TV one night, the “monsters” literally were two-dimensional cardboard characters pulled through the scenes by several ropes; so I mixed comic drawings with several photographs, not quite the same effect but the artist (namely me) is satisfied ;) …

Okay, now to the card and it’s meaning, or my interpretation of it, a wounded (wayward) man (son) is one step away from reaching his goal, the thing he seeks most, the thing he fought for, in this case with Sammy being Mr Wayward the ultimate goal is Lilith’s death … With hell beneath him, angels after him (behind him, for they did push him), demons surrounding him, an unknown future ahead of him, not to mention John’s “kill him or save him” hanging above his head (not literally) Sam holds on for a moment, looks back, I like to think he’s looking at Dean, or (as in the episode) looking at the closed door, hearing Dean yell for him, but at the same time he remembers Dean calling him a monster; I chose to draw Lilith faceless, because, well, the blonde locks, the white dress, she could be Mary, she could be Jessica, and I think in a way she represents them, both women, the death of both women were major turning points in Sammy’s life, but also obstacles the “dark forces” and maybe even the “forces of goodness” needed to get rid off to get Sam to do what they wanted, needed him to do … so, and now I need a big, fat “oh, Sam!” …
